New EMA Research provides insight on how a Cross-Domain Service Management Strategy successfully precedes Cloud Adoption

Montréal, Canada- April 18th, 2011, N(i)2, an innovative and leading technology company that develops and markets cross-domain service management software for services providers and large enterprises, is pleased to sponsor the release of Enterprise Management Associates’ (EMA) latest research report entitled, “Operationalizing Cloud: The Move Towards a Cross-Domain Service-Management Strategy”.

The overarching goal of this EMA research report is to provide useful points of comparisons for IT executives, cross-domain service management organizations and other strategic groups seeking to optimize their Cloud investments in a broader service management context.

EMA anticipates that within two to five years, Cloud adoptions will continue to grow in importance as options, rather than endgames, in support of strong service management organizations. “ (…) at the same time, Cloud is reshaping priorities for how service management technologies must evolve - towards more dynamic currency and higher levels of automation. These trends will continue to value core service management and Business Service Management requirements for service modeling, user experience management, dynamic visibility into service interdependencies, and superior analytics.”

N(i)2 finds it fundamental  that for IT organizations to operate in a Cloud-like manner they need to build infrastructure capacity that is “ready” for service provisioning, as demonstrated by the emergence of various applications of Private, Public and Hybrid Cloud Services. IT organizations must not only offer a range of services, but also forecast and anticipate how they will support new and increasing demand for services.

“Cloud initiatives require an understanding of the whole service value chain from Service Design to Service Transition and finally Service Fulfillment”, says Joseph Bondi, Director of Business & Solution Strategy at N(i)2.   “In order to become services-oriented, IT organizations must adopt a cross-domain service management strategy and stop managing in silo’s or single-domain mode.  The resulting need for infrastructure readiness for provisioning services faster and in a more elastic manner also requires a new generation of tools and set of best practices.  The challenge is that many of the traditional IT management tools which are deployed were never designed to address these Cloud-like service delivery models, nor the cross-domain operational challenges in implementing them”, adds Bondi.
