N(i)² and Sun Help Customers Reduce Costs and Complexity of Physical and Virtualized Environments in Their Data Centers
N(i)² technology and suite of products will be integrated with Sun Microsystems Dynamic Infrastructure suite
Montréal (Québec), Canada - November 19th, 2007 - N(i)², an ICT Infrastructure Management solution provider offering a multi-domain CMDB platform, today announced that its technology will be incorporated with Sun Microsystems' Dynamic Infrastructure suite.
N(i)² entered in a Joint Development and Marketing Agreement (JDMA) with Sun Microsystems under which the two companies will work together to complement Sun’s Dynamic Infrastructure suite.
By integrating the N(i)² CMDB with Sun Dynamic Infrastructure suite, the solution will help data centers managers reduce the costs and complexity of physical and virtualized environments while decreasing time to market for new services. The solution will also reduce ecological impacts as a result of increased efficiency and virtualization.
This solution comes as a response to ever-increasing data center automation needs. Customers are seeking IT management technology to quickly respond to new business opportunities, address sudden changes in load, and solve emerging technical challenges. While horizontally-scaled systems have delivered, they remained statically conceived and configured, requiring manual management. The solution resulting from the N(i)²-Sun agreement will greatly improve data centers’ ability to standardize, automate and speed up deployment of services while greatly reducing errors.
"Both Sun and N(i)² provide customers with technologies that help mitigate the challenges of complex modern ICT Infrastructure" said Jason Carolan, Distinguished Engineer and Director of Technical Initiatives, Sales and Services at Sun. "The combination of Sun's Dynamic Infrastructure Suite and N(i)² technology addresses these challenges in one integrated solution", adds Carolan.
N(i)² brings a CMDB built on a generic and open object model that can support any type of Configuration Item (CI). The CMDB will contribute to Sun's Dynamic Infrastructure by maintaining all CIs, their current status, relationships and dependencies. The CMDB facilitates the automation of task and release management for seamless service rollout. Combined with Sun's advanced automation capacities, these technologies can drastically bolster data center productivity.
"Since ICT infrastructure management lays the foundation of IT operations for the provision of services, our technology is increasingly sought out," said Toufik Abdallah, N(i)² CTO & VP Marketing. "We are extremely excited to be addressing true IT challenges in the marketplace with Sun Microsystems."
